About ECL

Due to demand from wedding couples wishing to video-record their ceremony European Copyright Licensing Ltd (ECL) was established in 2003 to provide a legal and simple solution to the copyright issues involved.

As a result, wedding couples can now purchase their licence directly from this website without having to contact different organisations or copyright owners.

Copyright permissions required

Since music is being audio and/or video recorded permission is required from MCPS and/or PPL depending upon whether or not the music is recorded live or from a pre-recorded format such as a CD.

ECL has negotiated with both MCPS and PPL in order to offer a number of licensing options to wedding couples. ECL uses the administration strengths of an established international copyright company to handle sales, customer service enquiries and for the distribution of royalties back to MCPS and PPL.
